Steve Long

Steve Long is an experienced IFMGA/UIAGM guide with climbing experience the world over. He is currently the chief officer of the MLTUK, after working at the National Mountain Centre at Play-Y-Brenin for 14 years. He has worked on a number of film projects, most recently the ITV2 series 'Jack Osbourne- Adrenaline Junkie'. Steve is also the successful author of the best-selling MLTUK Hillwalking handbook. As well as making great contributions to technical excellence in mountaineering via his articles in the BMC Summit publication. Steve's current lectures include:

 Low's Gully Abseil Adventure - This lecture features slides and some video from the the first descent of the notorious Low’s Gully on Mount Kinabulu in Borne, an adventure that was televised worldwide  on National Geographic channel.

Cerro Torro, Patagonia - In 2005 Steve’s team made the first Welsh ascent of one of the world’s most famous climbs. A multimedia account of this adventure.

Poles Apart - Two contrasting assignments: working for the British Antarctic Survey and for an oil exploration company keen to exploit Spitsbergen. Images from two fragile wildernesses.

BMC Alpine Lecture Series 2006 - Based on Steve’s Conville Trust and BMC lectures, this talk gives helpful advice for Alpine novices.
