Dave Birkett

Dave Birkett is a brilliant climber and certainly one of the finest the Lake District (UK?...the world!)  has ever produced. Recently immortalised on celluloid in Posing Productions 2006 film 'Set In Stone' (winner of Best Film at Kendal Mountain Film Festival 2006) which chronicle's Dave's natural flare for interesting new lines produced on the mountain crags (and saving stray sheep!).

Born into a legacy of great Lakeland climbers, Dave's grandfather Jim, was responsible for a host of Lakeland classics, including Overhanging Bastion etc etc as well as climbing possibly the first E1 in the country in 1941 with Harlots Face. Dave's uncle is Bill Birkett author of numerous books on mountain routes in the Lake district

Dave is a fantastic climber and a full time worker to boot which makes his achievements on many of the more remote crags, which take an amazing amount of time to complete, even more remarkable.
