Leo
Houlding represents the new breed of British Rock
Climber/Mountaineer..
After an
epic Alpine-style free ascent of Fitzroy’s 1400m North pillar
in Patagonia involving a horrendous 17 hour abseil through a
severe storm at the beginning of 2005 Leo decided that was
enough abseiling for one year.
For
the remainder of 2005 Leo and friends experimented with
parachute-assisted descents from big wall climbs across Europe
and America. Including Riglos, Spain, Kjerag, Norway,
Yosemite, USA. Culminating in a dramatic race against a top of
the range Audi sports car in the Verdon Gorge, France, for the
BBC Top Gear TV program.
Beautiful imagery and incredible video footage illustrate the
amazing stories of big wall free routes and BASE descents
documenting the early stages of the Para-Alpine revolution.
Also
included is some inspirational material of Deep Water Soloing
in the serene Kornati islands off the coast of Croatia.
“One
of the most amazing slide shows I have ever seen, I’ll be
sticking with Abseiling thank you very much!” Sir Chris
Bonington.
